Future of Shade

Future of Shade

November 8, 2016

The Sunbrella® Future of Shade competition challenges architects, designers and landscape architects to create innovative fabric shade designs that inform the surrounding architecture, whether it’s an office building, shopping plaza, park or busy pedestrian mall. With rising global temperatures and the prevalence of skin cancer, shade is becoming essential to the way we live, work and play. In humanitarian crises, shade can provide comfort to people displaced from their homes and communities by natural disasters or war. Despite the known health and psychological benefits of shade, it is often overlooked or an afterthought. This short documentary answers the question, “Why is shade important to humanity?”
