The fire and life safety performance criteria associated with interior glazing systems can make it difficult to integrate the look of wood into the design. Technical Glass Products is looking to rectify this problem with its Fireframes TimberLine Series.
The TimberLine Series pairs a high-strength steel subframe with a wood-veneered metal cover cap to produce a slender fire-rated frame. The frames provide the aesthetics of natural wood with the ability to serve as a barrier to radiant and conductive heat transfer. When the total glazing area exceeds 25% of a given wall, the Fireframes TimberLine Series is combined with Pilkington Pyrostop fire-rated glass to allow for unrestricted glazing.
The frames are available in multiple wood varieties, such as white maple, cherry, fir, and oak, to visually match any nearby non-rated wood assemblies. TGP designed the system to accommodate its Fireframes Designer and Heat Barrier Series door systems. It’s also compatible with wood doors from other manufacturers. Available in fire-resistance ratings up to 120 minutes for interior applications.
