THE WEEKLY SHOW HIGHLIGHTS FOR OCTOBER 1, 2020

BD+C's Group Director Tony Mancini runs down the highlights from this week's show.

SEGMENT #1 - Decarbonizing Chicago, with Doug Farr, Founder and Principal, Farr Associates

BD+C's Robert Cassidy interviews Doug Farr, Founder and Principal of Chicago architecture firm Farr Associates. He and 65 other Chicagoans have formed "Carbon-Free Chicago 2050" and have developed a 5-point plan, "The Common Agenda," to decarbonize the city of Chicago.

SEGMENT #2 - Re-Evaluating Delayed Capital Projects, with Shawn Buchanan, Vice President, General Manager, ‎Graycor Southern

BD+C's David Barista speaks with Graycor's Shawn Buchanan about the state of delayed and postposed capital projects amid the COVID-19 pandemic. According to AGC, 60% of construction firms have had at least one future project postponed or canceled because of the coronavirus, while 33% report having projects that were already under way halted because of the pandemic. As the nation inches its way back to "business as usual," Buchanan says owners and developers need to re-evaluate the metrics and benchmarks that were used to establish the viability of these projects pre-COVID-19.

SEGMENT #3 - The Future of the Jobsite, with Eric Stenman, President-U.S. Buildings, Balfour Beatty

BD+C's John Caulfield interviews Eric Stenman, Balfour Beatty's U.S. Buildings President, about the future of the jobsite. Stenman addresses how contractors are coping with product and manpower shortages, and looks ahead at what COVID-19 protocols are likely to be here to stay.
