Sierra Club Critical of Albuquerque Mayor’s Push to Weaken Green Code

The Sierra Club’slocal chapter organizing director criticized Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry’s plans to change the city’s 2009 Energy Conservation Code. The mayor’s plan to move to a less environmentally friendly code would mean confusion for people in the construction industry and a loss of energy efficiency and money for consumers, said Shrayas Jatkar. Changing the code now could later prompt the city to change it back to something resembling present standards when the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code is put in place.
