Built in the 1920s as a women’s dormitory on the campus of Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Ennis Hall has been meticulously restored and converted to studios, classrooms, gallery space, and faculty offices for the school’s art department. The Reconstruction Awards jury praised the Building Team for its attention to detail and collaborative spirit. The team worked closely with faculty and students to weave the art program into the compartmentalized layout of the dorm building. This includes the use of the building’s important character-defining spaces, including stairs, corridors, and dorm rooms, for art program space.
