Video: Humphreys & Partners presents its design vision for Uber Air Skyport

"For thousands of years we remained on the ground, and only in the last 100 years have we made drastic progress in our aviation journey. Volary pays homage to this passion, as the entire structure is designed to look as if it’s suspended in the air," says Walter Hughes, Humphreys & Partners' Chief Innovation Officer. Uber plans to launch an aerial ridesharing program in Dallas, Los Angeles, and Melbourne in 2023.

Uber called for two schemes, which included a parking garage retrofit design for the central business district and a new construction greenfield structure to support the outer suburbs.

Humphreys & Partners' design scheme, Volary, is made of natural, organic materials, which create a highly sustainable building resulting in a zero net energy footprint.
