This article first appeared in the 200808 issue of BD+C.

Acoustic glass system combines three interlayers—including a patent-pending acoustical interlayer that transforms sound energy into heat—that are designed to decouple and disseminate sound waves by up to 50%. Saflex SilentGlass Technology targets sound in the 1000 to 3000 Hz range, which is the noise transparency range that lets through most of the irritating sounds, like car horns, barking dogs, amplified music, and aircraft. The window system also provides significant protection against forced entry and adds considerable security to residential and commercial buildings.
