For design professionals seeking glazing with a durable and colorfast appearance, Technical Glass Products (TGP) now offers Pilkington Profilit™ with TGP ProColor™.  The high-performance channel glass coating does not require tempering, and is bonded to the glass with high adhesion strength to resist chipping and fading. The result is a sophisticated, vision-obscuring façade, wall or partition with lasting beauty.

TGP ProColor is available in a wide array of opaque and metallic colors with varying translucency. It can be applied to standard and low-iron Pilkington Profilit channel glass options in all available textures, including Standard Cast, Macro, Slim Line, Wave and Clear. For added protection and opacity, TGP ProColor is available with an optional flood coating. Custom-blended TGP ProColor coatings are available upon request.

Given the aesthetic and performance characteristics of TGP ProColor, Marnell Architects incorporated the product in the Hollywood Casino in Columbus, Ohio.  The design team selected Pilkington Profilit low-iron, wave channel glass with TGP ProColor translucent metallic gold coating to help capture the golden age of Hollywood from the outside in.

To create the Art Deco inspired exterior, the low-iron channel glass was custom tempered and coated in TGP ProColor translucent metallic gold high-performance coating. The cast-glass channels' low-iron composition allowed the design team to realize a more natural gold color from the coating, as it reduces the natural green hue typical of standard glass.

The metallic coating and wave-shaped texture of the channel glass intensify color and light to form optical variations for casino visitors. This combination creates an exterior that sparkles gold in the daylight. At night, the backlit channel glass glows, illuminating the casino's entrance.

The self-supporting, vertically oriented translucent channel glass strips and extruded metal perimeter frame form isolated channel glass “piers” that serve as dramatic decorative focal points for the casino's exterior. Four complementary stacked elevations of metallic gold channel glass encase an adjacent parking garage. Its glimmering exterior spans upwards of 30 feet. Forty custom channel glass light sconces help light the garage's exterior.

The design concept is continued throughout the casino's interior via columns made of three stacked, metallic gold channel glass tiers. The channel glass tiers incrementally reduce in width as the columns near the ceiling.

Pilkington Profilit channel glass is a translucent linear channel glass system consisting of an extruded perimeter frame and self-supporting cast-glass channels. It can be used in interior or exterior applications, with an overall span of up to 23 feet. The channels can be installed either vertically or horizontally. All Pilkington Profilit cast-glass channels can incorporate Lumira® aerogel insulation panels to help enhance energy efficiency.
