FAA Grant Boosts Denver Airport Project

FAA Grant Boosts Denver Airport Project

By Staff | August 11, 2010

Denver International Airport is in line for a $28-million grant from The Federal Aviation Administration to construct new aircraft parking spaces along Concourse C, according to airport officials.

DIA will use the money to replace grass and asphalt around the concourse with concrete to construct what's called the C Apron expansion. The total cost for the C Apron expansion is $38.5 million, and work on the project will begin later this summer or early fall, the Denver Business Journal reported.

DIA is currently evaluating its original plans to add 10 new gates to Concourse C until airport officials have a clearer picture of what will happen with airlines, which have made significant capacity and employee cuts this month in light of soaring fuel costs.

Frontier and United will cut a combined 606 employees in Colorado.
