Dorma buys Modernfold

Dorma has acquired two companies and formed a new worldwide division comprised of the two firms and its existing glass wall business. Dorma is an international supplier of products, systems and services that provide comfort, safety, and security for pedestrian traffic of architectural openings in the commercial construction industry. The addition of movable walls and room partitioning systems enhances Dorma's position as a worldwide leader in technology and innovation in the field of integral door concepts.

Effective Feb. 28, Dorma acquired Modernfold Inc., which manufactures operable walls and accordion partitions in the United States. Headquartered in New Castle, Ind., with facilities in Dyersville, Iowa, and Sharonville, Ohio, it employs approximately 340 people, manufacturing products marketed under the Acousti-Seal, Audio-Wall, Soundmaster, and Woodmaster names.

Dorma also purchased Hüppe Form Raumtrennsysteme GmbH, part of the Hüppe Form Group of Oldenburg, Germany, effective Jan. 1. With approximately 500 employees and 10 international subsidiaries, Hüppe Form Raumtrennsysteme GmbH manufactures and markets sound resistant and glass movable walls, and demountable partitions under the Variflex, Varitrans, Combiline, and Multiroll names.
