D esigned by Atlanta-based TVS, the Wachovia First Street Cultural Campus in Charlotte, N.C., will feature a 48-story office tower for Wachovia Corp., two museums, a 350-seat auditorium, an African-American Cultural Center, a performing arts theater, the Wake Forest School of Management, and a 42-story residential building. The form of the 1.5 million-sf tower symbolizes a progressive yet precise crystalline image, created from custom-designed glass and metal curtain wall. Its chiseled top culminates in a dramatic window, oriented to acknowledge One Wachovia Center, the bank's headquarters structure nearby. Designed to achieve LEED certification, the development is expected to create a new entertainment core in downtown Charlotte.
