American Iron and Steel Institute revises 14 test standards

Updates standards from 2008 series

New standards have been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and are available at“These AISI test standards, which are updated every five years, facilitate research and development leading to improved state-of-the-art solutions in steel for the construction market,” said Jay Larson, P.E., F.ASCE, managing director, Construction Technical Program. “The suite of test standards is often referenced in industry acceptance criteria, providing a level playing field for establishing the performance characteristics of unique products and applications.”

AISI serves as the voice of the North American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice. AISI also plays a lead role in the development and application of new steels and steelmaking technology.
