AIA joins BuildStrong Coalition in support of safe building code legislation

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has lent its support to the federal Safe Building Code Incentive Act, aiming to make states that comply with national building codes eligible for additional relief funding. The BuildStrong Coalition is a partnership of national business and consumer organizations, corporations, and emergency management officials pursuing stronger codes to protect homes and buildings.

Introduced by U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., the bill could help mitigate natural disaster damage throughout the country by requiring buildings to comply with federal standards.
