This week on The Weekly, BD+C editors spoke with leaders from Technical University Dresden, Cooper Carry, and Leo A Daly on three important topics:  
• Three ways COVID-19 is redefining commercial design, from touchless spaces to enhanced outdoor amenities. 
• The world’s first building made from carbon-fiber reinforced concrete, a lightweight, thinner, bendable form of concrete.
• Key obstacles higher education officials face when re-opening campuses for the fall semester.

SEGMENT 1: Alex Lopatynsky, AIA, Principal, Managing Director, Cooper Carry, on three ways COVID-19 is redefining commercial design, from touchless spaces to enhanced outdoor amenities. 3 themes: "Get out!," "Curb your experience!", and "Touch me not!"

 


SEGMENT 2: Manfred Curbach, Director of the Institute of Concrete Construction with the Technical University Dresden, discusses the world’s first building made from carbon-fiber reinforced concrete, a lightweight, thinner, bendable form of concrete.


SEGMENT 3: Elissa Kellett, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, VP, Global Higher Education Practice Leader, Leo A Daly, on the key obstacles higher education officials face when re-opening campuses for the fall semester. Part of the solution, according to a new white paper authored by Kellett and her colleagues, is organizing students into "cohorts" and "micro-communities."
