The Beam on Farmer, a Class A office building in downtown Tempe, Ariz., has broken ground. The five-story, 184,000-sf office building will be the first in the state to feature exposed Cross Laminated Timber construction as the primary structural system.
The project will include a mix of solid timber, concrete, steel, and glass. Interiors will feature 13’ exposed wood ceilings, 40,000-sf open floor plates, and an Under Floor Air Distribution (UFAD) system for best-in-class air quality and energy efficiency. An adjacent parking garage with a 4/1,000 parking ratio is also included.
The Beam on Farmer will offer direct access to the Loop 202 freeway and is minutes from Sky Harbor International Airport. The project is slated for completion in May 2022. RSP Architects is designing the project and Mortenson is building it.
