Ume by J+J Flooring | Sustainable Resilient Textile Flooring

By J+J Flooring

Adding to the Kinetex resilient textile flooring collection, Ume draws inspiration from sakiori—the traditional Japanese art of weaving scraps of fabric into new textiles—with a handcrafted, artisanal sensibility. The small-scale, tightly woven pattern with rich texture doubles as a celebration of the elegance of small imperfections while creating almost a camouflage for the seams. Launching in 17 colorways that leans into softer, earthier neutrals alongside richer accent tones, the collection contains no less than 45% post-consumer recycled content, with one 24- by 24-inch tile containing 27 recycled plastic bottles.

Solarban 70 Optiblue Glass | High-Performance Architectural Glass for Multifamily Buildings

By Vitro Architectural Glass

Glass selection played a pivotal role for the Reverb Alton Collection multi-unit apartment building, and Solarban 70 Optiblue glass met the project’s aesthetic and performance goals. The glass’ subtle blue-gray tint pairs with dark aluminum framing, insulated metal panels, exposed concrete and prefinished metal trim on the façade to lend a modern aesthetic yet reinforces and blends into the neighborhood’s industrial heritage. Inside the 132 apartments and top floor amenity spaces, floor-to-ceiling glass gives the appearance of a contemporary curtain wall that showcases views of downtown Kansas City, with exposed concrete floors, minimal partitions and steel room dividers helping the glazing units feel larger and more connected to the views. Delivering a Visible Light Transmittance of 46% and Solar Heath Gain Coefficient of 0.25, the glazing balances daylighting, thermal performance and occupant comfort.

Tate ConCore 1250 PosiLock | Raised Access Flooring for Commercial Office Renovations

By Tate Access Flooring

When Kinsale Insurance needed additional space without relocating, the solution was directly across the street, and a comprehensive transformation to develop the concrete mid-century structure to meet contemporary workplace and operational demands began. Because schedule was a defining project factor, the decision was made to work with an existing infrastructure service distribution under the raised floor—the pre- existing ConCore 1000 PosiLock system was upgraded to a ConCore 1250 PosiLock as part of the renovation—which supported an accelerated schedule, accommodated complex systems and created a workplace with built-in adaptability. This decision to retain and extend the raised access floor helped accommodate slab irregularities typical of older concrete construction as well as influenced wall construction, acoustics and security planning. In certain spaces, design priorities outweighed the need for frequent underfloor access, so early coordination was necessary to ensure critical systems were not located beneath inaccessible zones.

Through a collaboration with LightArt, engineers and designers developed a design that achieves a seamless, level fit with the ceiling lines. The Grill – Forté and Grille – Classics panels include factory-attached integration brackets, and the vertically adjustable mounting on the fixture allows the face of the light to be aligned flush with the face of the panel. For the WoodWorks Linear Veneered Open system, the fixtures match the width and depth of the pnaks and include factory-applied fleece for a flush, consistent visual.

Action Floor Systems The Zone Floor | High-Performance Sports Flooring for Athletic Facilities

By Action Floor Systems

Designed as a destination facility for high school, collegiate and adult athletes to train and compete, Gateway Sports Academy (GSA) was created to be much more than just a gym as the athlete experience needed to be top of mind and a key differentiator for the facility as it aims to attract regional tournaments. With four full-sized basketball courts, six volleyball courts, 12 pickleball courts and nine shooting cages, the floor within the complex needed to deliver professional-quality performance and be sports-specific while supporting thousands of athletes per year, which is why The Zone Floor was selected. Developed using in-game analytics that studied where the most impact takes place during play, the sports flooring system has been engineered for shock absorption and a decrease in impact at strategically placed areas where athletes jump and land most frequently. The flooring also offers a high-end aesthetic for the facility, with all-natural rubber pads and sustainably sourced maple.
