As part of the ongoing community redevelopment and rejuvenation, The Mosaic boutique multi-family development utilizes 323 energy-efficient large windows and doors from Crystal Window & Door Systems to bring elegance and performance. Eight different products from the portfolio of aluminum and vinyl windows and doors were used in total. The heavy-commercial aluminum Series 5600 in two- and three-lite versions have a 3 ¼-inch frame depth rated AW-PG40 and were field-mulled atop two- and three-lite Series 2100 fixed windows to create large, tall combinations that maximize views. Also typically field-mulled with the Series 2100 were Crystal Series 2600 aluminum double-hung windows—featuring tilt-in sashes and metal tilt latches, plus rated CW-PG50—that were fabricated into twin and triple units utilizing the continuous master frame and impost optionHorizontal and vertical arrangements are possible with the Series 2100 fixed windows because of a master frame sash impost option. Rounding out the windows for the project, the heavy-commercial aluminum Series 8500 outswing casement and Series 8510 fixed windows both deliver narrow sightline 2 5/8-inch frames, strong 0.125-inch-thick frame and sill extrusions, and can be fabricated in multiple horizontal or vertical combinations using the continuous master frame impost option. Sliding patio doors, sidelights and swing terrace doors were also specified.

 


 

Euro-Wall Horizon Multi Slide Door System | Hurricane-Rated Large-Panel Sliding Glass Doors

As a focal point of the Terminal Modernization Program for Pittsburgh International Airport, the ceilingwith the solutions coming from Armstrong World Industrieswas designed to seamlessly transition the visual from interior to exterior, pay homage to the city’s rich history and create a natural fluidity that moves people through the airport experience. Bringing together the company’s portfolio of wood-look solutions, ProjectWorks Design and Pre-Construction Services, plus unique manufacturing capabilities, the project vision included a double-height ceiling design that evokes the region’s nature while offering full plenum access and providing strong acoustic performance in an immense space filled with hard surfaces and continual traffic. The MetalWorks Immix Linear Panelized Torsion Spring Ceiling System fits the criteria for the interior ceiling—covering approximately 300,000 sf of curved and straight sections and warped surfaces—and was perforated and fitted with black acoustical fleece for added acoustical performance. A complete monolithic visual without a reveal came from custom black filler strips paired with the MetalWorks Immix panels, and the interior panels were installed with precision to align with the MetalWorks Linear – Classics ceiling panels on the exterior.
