New Mexico casino gets a soaring atrium as part of expansion

Aug. 11, 2010

A soaring seven-story, glass-and-steel, open-air atrium greets guests as they enter the expansion of Isleta Casino & Resort in Albuquerque, N.M. The dramatic design by Cuningham Group Architecture, Minneapolis, draws inspiration from the verticality of the area's red-rock walls and incorporates a water feature that appears to flow from the atrium to the exterior spa. The expansion includes more than 200 hotel rooms and suites, as well as a 24-hour café, restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, children's activity center, and more than 30,000 sf of ballroom and meeting space.
