Wood accents add to ambience at Edmonton airport terminal

Jan. 4, 2013

The new U.S. Departures Terminal at Edmonton (Alb.) International Airport features 118,400 sf of retail and restaurant space that offers an outdoor-like urban dining environment to travelers. Designed by Stantec, the terminal incorporates the colors and natural materials of the surrounding prairie landscape. These include wood accents, such as the exterior-grade light poles manufactured by Structura, Olathe, Kan. Eight 15-foot-high poles from the Sine Series were installed at the perimeter of the terminal’s food court, linking the space visually to the rest of the complex. Stainless steel connectors attach the poles to the aluminum base; the poles taper to four inches at the top.
