Synthetic turf eliminates real problems at JKF

Feb. 14, 2011

FieldTurf was selected by John F. Kennedy International Airport to equip areas around its approach runways and taxiways with 300,000 sf of Air FieldTurf synthetic turf. Installation was completed by the LandTek Group, Amityville, N.Y. The aviation-grade artificial turf, one of only two systems approved by the FAA, contributes to improved visibility, helps reduce opportunity for foreign object debris, mitigates risk from wildlife, and improves drainage and surface maintenance. The turf has also been installed at Boston’s Logan Airport, the U.S. Marine Air Base: Miramar, San Francisco International, Charles de Gaulle International, Paris, and Hong Kong International Airport.
