Bank puts its trust in hurricane glass

Aug. 11, 2010

Looking for an exterior glass solution that met hurricane-zone standards while also providing energy saving and clear views of the outdoors for one of its biggest clients, SunTrust Bank, Tampa, Fla.-based architect Robert Reid Wedding Architects & Planners specified Sun-Guard SN-68 glass. The low-e glass maintains a clear, neutral appearance and is available in a laminated version, which meets the state building code for impact resistance. It was installed in more than 30 new SunTrust branch buildings throughout Florida.

“Clear glass is important for us,” said Doug Sinclair from Sun Trust. “But what's more important is the safety of our customers. That's why we insisted, even before the new codes were enacted, that all new branches in hurricane zones use the highest quality protective glass.”
