T he joint venture construction team of Moss & Associates and Miller Construction, both based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., recently completed its third major project on the Davie, Fla., campus of Nova Southeastern University. The 520-bed, $45 million dormitory complex, called The Commons, encompasses two buildings with 16 independently accessible halls for students in the same academic field, social club, or other group. Each community includes residential suites of four one- or two-bedroom units, two bathrooms, a common area, space for a resident assistant, lounge, study area, and storage and trash rooms. Architect Cannon Design, Grand Island, N.Y., designed the dorm to promote student well-being, while providing opportunities to connect with students who share similar interests.
