Revolutionary, Fully Hose Stream Tested, Optically Clear, Low-cost, 45 Minute Fire Rated Glass Product For All Applications

SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI can be used in 45 minute doors up to a maximum clear view area of 3,288 sq. in. (33 in. x 99-5/8 in.) and in 45 minute sidelites, transoms and openings up to a maximum clear view area of 3,880 sq. in. (42-3/4 in. x 90-3/4 in.).

SAFTI FIRST, leading USA-manufacturer of advanced fire rated glass and framing systems, with great pleasure and excitement, brings the clearest, most affordable, 45 minute fire protective glazing product to the glazing industry. The patent-pending SuperClear 45-HS (hose stream) and SuperClear 45-HS-LI (hose stream-low iron) are revolutionary new products that pass NFPA 252/257, UL 9/10B/10C and ULC/CAN4 S104/S106 for fire safety and CPSC Cat. I and II, ANSI Z97.1 Class A and B and CAN/CGSB Class A and B for impact safety.

Listed and labeled by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI can be used in 45 minute doors up to a maximum clear view area of 3,288 sq. in.  (33 in. x 99-5/8 in.) and in 45 minute sidelites, transoms and openings up to a maximum clear view area of 3,880 sq. in. (42-3/4 in. x 90-3/4 in.). SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI meet all the fire, hose stream and safety requirements without the use of wires, films or laminates.  Both versions are ¾” optically clear glazing.  SuperClear 45-HS-LI has an approximate visible light transmission of 90%, compared to 88% for premium filmed ceramic and 85% for premium laminated ceramic.  This makes SuperClear 45-HS-LI the clearest 45 minute, fire protective glazing product in the market today.

SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI also performed better in an independent, third-party acoustical lab test against filmed and laminated ceramic in standard hollow metal frames.  SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI have a 37 STC/35 OITC rating in standard hollow metal framing, compared to 29 STC/28 OITC for filmed ceramic in standard hollow metal framing and 31 STC/30 OITC for laminated ceramic in standard hollow metal framing.

SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI are proudly USA-made for fast lead times and affordable pricing.  Fabrication will only take days – not weeks. They are priced at approximately half of filmed and laminated ceramics and are aimed to be the go-to product for glaziers.

“For years, we’ve seen a lot of product development in fire resistive glass rated 60 minutes and above, but not in fire protective glass rated 45 minutes and less, where we see most interior fire rated glazing applications,” says William O’Keeffe, President and CEO of SAFTI FIRST.  “SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI were developed because architects, door manufacturers, specifiers and building owners need to have an affordable, clear glazing product for 45 minute applications that meet all the code requirements and blend seamlessly with other clear glass in their buildings.  Because these new products undergo a special process, they are extremely durable and have a better chance of surviving any type of impact compared to filmed or laminated ceramics.  This characteristic significantly reduces replacement costs due to breakage over time.”

SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI are listed and labelled by UL and can be used in their listed sizes in standard hollow metal doors, frames and vision kits on the market today.  SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI will be extremely competitive when used as system in SAFTI FIRST’s own aluminum GPX Framing and the soon-to-be released, 2-1/2” profile, aluminum SNAP CAP framing. SAFTI FIRST will do additional testing for SuperClear 45-HS and SuperClear 45-HS-LI in various insulated make-ups in the first quarter of 2019.

Norshield Products Fortify Critical NYC Infrastructure

New York City has two very large buildings dedicated to answering the 911 calls of its five boroughs. With more than 11 million emergency calls annually, it makes perfect sense. The second of these buildings, the Public Safety Answering Center II (PSAC II) is located on a nine-acre parcel of land in the Bronx. It’s an imposing 450,000 square-foot structure—a 240-foot-wide by 240-foot-tall cube. The gleaming aluminum cube risesthe equivalent of 24 stories from behind a grassy berm, projecting the unlikely impression that it might actually be floating. Like most visually striking structures, the building has drawn as much scorn as it has admiration.

Safti First Fights Through Assertions Made By Plaintiffs Ely Holdings Limited And Greenlite Glass Systems That Safti First’s Fire Rated Floor System Infringed On Their Patent

In a summary judgement dated February 3, 2021, Chief Magistrate Joseph C. Spero of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California ruled that the patent infringement claims filed by Ely Holdings Limited (Ely) and Greenlite Glass Systems (Greenlite) against SAFTI FIRST, a USA fire rated glass and framing manufacturer, could not proceed to trial, finding that the SAFTI FIRST’s fire resistant floor does not violate Ely’s patent.
