Green roof reduces need for irrigation

By Staff | August 11, 2010
This article first appeared in the 200703 issue of BD+C.

New green roof technology, called the Advanced Vegetative Roof System, utilizes patented, cornstarch-based granules that work like a sponge, holding and releasing water as the plant roots need it. Zeba granules are mixed into the plant soil mix to help keep the growth medium moist without the need for constant irrigation. This results in faster, fuller vegetation establishment and lower maintenance costs.
