International Contractors, Inc. began construction on the first LEGOLAND® Discovery Center in the U.S. on March 4, 2008. The grand opening is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., July 31, 2008.

                According to Lutz Schaefer,

Group Project Manager, Merlin Entertainments Group Deutschland GmbH, in a message to ICI Project Manager, Dan Rea and ICI Superintendent, Rudy Trybalski,

I don’t want to miss out after my site visit to express that I really enjoyed what I have seen . . . The site is clean, on schedule and very well handled. To see a very professional and still friendly and respectful cooperation of all key members is a pleasure. It is great to have you in the team and to be working with you.”

LEGOLAND® Discovery Center is located in the Streets of Woodfield at 601 N. Martingale, Schaumburg, Illinois, directly across from the Woodfield Shopping Center at Woodfield Road and Route 53.

The two-story indoor interactive theme park is approximately 30,000 square feet. The Center will feature an adventure trail, a Lego factory, huge exhibits, the “Dragon” ride, a hall of “super hero” celebrities built of Lego’s and birthday party rooms.
