WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"I've been very fortunate in that I’ve received an abundance of advice and mentorship over the years. Although there is no single 'best' piece of career advice, one principle that always stood out to me is precedent. Start strong so you can finish stronger."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Ironically, the single biggest professional achievement of my career has been the personal impact that I’ve been able to have on my teams. In today’s world, it is more important than ever to step back, be empathetic and connect with others on a deep level. Work doesn’t just have to be a paycheck. With the right leadership and environment, you can balance the business and personal to do better. More depth, more cohesion and more fulfillment in a shallower and shallower world."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My contribution to educating young minds curious about design that spans across scales, geographies, and pedagogies, whether that be crafting paper models of their ideal city with Boston public school kindergartners, or building life-sized mud brick arches to explain structural forces to first-year undergraduate students in my hometown of Pune."

SECRET LIFE
"I am proud to be half Filipino with family members that have many accomplishments."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"Start with the 'Why.' Early in my career, I felt adrift when it came to understanding the business side of architecture. I wanted to grasp how my work connected to the larger picture. When I joined my current firm, where we practice 100% financial transparency, I learned the importance of always starting with the 'why' and assuming good intent. This mindset not only grounds conversations in purpose but also fosters openness and trust. It encourages people to share perspectives freely and creates a shared mission that everyone can rally around. Today, I apply this lesson across everything I do—from business decisions to managing projects—by prioritizing transparency and collaboration. It has taught me that curiosity and trust lead to deeper understanding, stronger teams, and ultimately, better outcomes."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Leading a very large team through the design of Norfolk State University’s 131,376-sf, $118 million New Science Building. It is my biggest project at WPA to date and it was a challenge. We had to contend with pandemic disruptions and funding challenges. We are currently in construction. I am very proud to be working on this project at a HBCU that is a big part of our local community."

Has a cultural curiosity that often leads her to take trips by train (once traveled 56 hours by rail from South to North India)

SECRET LIFE
Has never met her grandfather, a man who dedicated himself to the welfare of others and whose ideals quietly shape her own vision for community and design

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"The best advice I’ve received is that the true role of an architect is to connect people, ideas, and disciplines. Architecture school gave me the ability to think critically across scales—to see both the fine detail and the broader system—and that mindset has shaped the way I practice. In my work at HDR, I draw on that foundation to approach problems systemically, partnering with engineers, planners, and communities to shape infrastructure that is both technically sound and deeply human."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My biggest professional achievement has been starting and building HDR’s Transportation Architecture practice in Northern California. When I arrived in the Bay Area, there was no dedicated practice in place, and I saw both a need and an opportunity to bring architectural leadership to the region’s major transportation and civic infrastructure projects."

"'Focus.' One of my mentors, John Hooper, once pulled me aside after a meeting and told me that in my career I could have “one PhD and maybe two master’s degrees,” but I couldn’t be an expert on everything. I had to think carefully and choose how I wanted to focus my career. It’s a piece of advice with which I still wrestle."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Helping push performance-based wind design forward has been a huge accomplishment for me, not only leading new research in the field related to coupling beam performance, but also managing MKA’s design of ATX Tower, the world’s first-ever project engineered using ASCE’s new Prestandard for Performance-Based Wind Design."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
“'Focus on people, and the projects will follow.' Early in my career, I was eager to prove myself technically, but a mentor reminded me that long-term success in this industry comes from relationships with clients, colleagues, contractors, and communities. That perspective has shaped how I lead. I prioritize listening, collaboration, and people-first solutions, which in turn has opened doors to incredible projects and leadership opportunities."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Becoming a licensed professional engineer, as part of the 7% of women who hold that credential, stands as my proudest achievement. Even more meaningful, however, has been using that milestone to mentor younger engineers on their own path to licensure."

OFF THE CLOCK
Avid podcast listener. "It all started when I was drafting at my first architecture job, listening to This American Life and Radiolab. This inspired me to launch my first podcast eventually. Now I'm working on a second one."

SECRET LIFE
Her family once owned the Chastain Lumber Company, which supported the early construction boom in Miami.

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"The best career advice has not been a single piece of advice, but the example my parents set for me growing up. I watched them support a small engineering business, which instilled in me a strong sense of independent thought, purpose, and possibility. They made me feel completely capable of building a business as a young woman in my 30s. While others may have questioned my path, my parents never did. That belief guided me through the early stages of my career, through my MBA program, and ultimately into what I have built with Apostrophe Consulting. It continues to give me the strength to fight for what I believe in."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Launching Apostrophe Consulting six months before the pandemic was a radical act of belief, both in myself and in a vision others couldn’t yet see. I had written the business plan during my MBA and hadn't shared it with many in my professional community. Taking the official leap was a defining moment of investing in myself. Now, six years in, every step forward is a continued act of commitment to the business I imagined and to the broader change I'm advocating for across this industry. Knowing how many people my business has supported along the way is deeply meaningful and continues to inspire my work."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received is to treat empathy as my superpower. When I first stepped into leadership roles... I worried that showing too much personality or focusing too much on building a connection would make me seem less credible, especially as a younger woman in the industry. Thankfully, my mentor helped me flip that thinking around. They told me that empathy wasn’t something to hide—it was something to lean into. And they were right."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My biggest professional achievement has been stepping into my role as Project Executive for IMEG’s Sustainability and Energy team, while also serving as our operations manager. It represents the career I dreamed of as early as high school, when I decided I wanted to dedicate my work to helping people and the planet. Today I have the privilege of driving meaningful change in the built environment, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions and guiding clients toward sustainable solutions to mentoring colleagues and advancing a culture of environmental responsibility."

Born and raised Italian who grew up in Brivio, a small town in northern Italy not far from Milan and Lake Como

In every single project rendering he did at RISD, Enrico snuck in a little cutout of his beloved grandmother, Nonna Rina, from a 1941 photo, arms raised in the stands, rooting for her favorite soccer team. "It became my good luck charm," and a way to carry her free spirit forward and "let her be part of my journey to becoming an architectural designer."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"When I first joined the AEC world, I was young, eager, and a little self-conscious about whether anyone would take me seriously. I often felt like opportunities were reserved for more seasoned professionals, and it would have been logical at the time to 'wait my turn.' But the single best piece of career advice I ever received from a fellow designer was, 'If you don’t see a seat at the table, make one for yourself.'  That mindset has shaped my career: it’s empowered me to step confidently into leadership roles, take risks I wouldn’t have otherwise, and surround myself with colleagues who share my drive to make a meaningful impact in education design."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My single biggest professional achievement so far has been embedding a design ethos centered on stakeholder agency and engagement into every project I collaborate on and seeing it deliver measurable, meaningful results across more than 20 school campuses in the United States. From the outset, I have made it a priority to involve students, teachers, and families directly in the design process through visioning workshops and co-design exercises."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"'Stop apologizing.' I remember when a mentor told me this after I used the word 'sorry' a few too many times to qualify a statement. I didn’t realize I did by default, until that moment. Often, as women, our default is to apologize for something that does not require it. That doesn’t mean that I don’t acknowledge and apologize if I made a mistake. I just decide to be very intentional about when I use the word 'sorry.'"

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Being selected as the 2026 President of the Texas Society of Architects, the AIA State component in Texas which represents 8% of AIA’s membership and almost 8,000 members. WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"While it's not advice I directly received, I have two simple rules I live by: 'Do Good' and 'Celebrate Everything.' The first comes from the final scene of Boy Meets World; the second, 'Celebrate Everything', is something I've developed through experience. We often move fast, chase ambitious goals, and don't take time to actually appreciate what we achieve. I've learned that celebrating the wins, big or small, and expressing gratitude creates momentum and culture."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My single most significant professional achievement has been assembling the leadership team that now powers Infinite forward. For many years, Infinite was Eric, and Eric was Infinite, and that model worked in the early days, but eventually I became the bottleneck, the person everything needed to flow through, and that wasn’t scalable. With the help of my business coach, Kevin Donnelly, I learned the importance of building a team and building leaders to really build a business."

Hooks, was Tennessee’s first Black criminal court judge)

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"'Leadership is not about being the smartest person in the room. It’s about creating space for others to rise.' [This advice] reminds me that the real measure of leadership is not just what you accomplish personally, but what you enable others to accomplish alongside you."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My single biggest professional achievement has been receiving two national recognitions, with this honor being the third, that speak to what is possible for my city, my state, and the next generation of leaders."

Has a rental property business where he's focused on fixing old properties with weird layouts by designing and building new framing systems to modernize the floor plans

Loves taking ski trips with his girls

SECRET LIFE
His first job was a Zamboni driver

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"Always draw through the problem you are trying to solve first. You can’t design a solution to a problem you don’t understand. (No story, this is how we approach design at LERA)."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Our work on Voided Post-Tensioned slabs and the CTBUH Innovation Award are meaningful because—as a concrete designer—it was a moment where the industry acknowledged that concrete structures can be designed and built with comparable amounts of embodied carbon to other sustainable structural systems. Sustainable design discussions tend to focus on materials first, which is only part of the equation. Using materials efficiently is the rest, which is where designers can really make a big difference, especially when it comes to concrete construction."

SECRET LIFE

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received came from a former manager who told me, 'No problem is too big to block and tackle.' That perspective has shaped the way I approach challenges throughout my career. Whether it’s a billion-dollar transaction or the day-to-day hurdles of development, I’ve learned that if you break down any problem into smaller parts, you can move through it with focus and persistence."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"The highlight of my career so far has been bringing the $9.5 billion JFK Terminal One redevelopment project to financial close. Working in project finance within investment banking gave me the skills to manage complex, high-stakes deals, but seeing that project move forward was a proud moment, one that reminded me of the impact that disciplined teamwork and creative problem-solving can have."

"My wife, son Cohen, and I have been special guest of the White House"

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"The best advice I’ve ever received was to learn to enjoy the process. It’s something I try to get better at every day. In architecture and design, most people think the work begins with the award of a project, but the truth is it starts years before. Every coffee meeting, every chance conversation, and every moment of listening to a community’s hopes is part of the process. Over time, I’ve grown to love those steps just as much as the design itself."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Becoming a managing principal at Perkins&Will and building a practice in Austin that now leads major civic, cultural, and commercial projects across Texas is the achievement I’m most proud of. It isn’t about titles or project awards alone, it’s about creating a culture where our team is trusted to take on work that truly elevates communities. From shaping new municipal campuses to designing student housing that fosters belonging, I’ve had a field-level seat to watch our team’s imagination and design grit move beyond the sketch into lasting impact for our clients. That sense of stewardship for people and place is what drives me every day."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"From a mentor: 'Focus on solving problems and enjoy the process, rather than simply completing tasks.' This advice has shaped me throughout my career and continues to guide how I approach my work, helping me stay purposeful and engaged no matter the challenge, whether it is designing infrastructure, leading project teams, or advising clients on complex construction challenges. Alongside that, I’ve learned the value of persistence, the importance of setting clear goals, and the need to focus on your own journey rather than comparing yourself to others."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"For me, the achievement is not tied to a single project, but to the cumulative growth gained from working across disciplines and delivery methods, and to the lasting impact these projects have on the communities that depend on them. That said, my biggest professional achievement so far has been earning a PhD in Geotechnical and Pavement Engineering and building a career that spans a wide spectrum of infrastructure works."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"One of my mentors often said, ‘If the client wants red shingles, then you give them red shingles.’ As engineers, it’s easy to get locked into how we think something should be designed or presented. That line has always reminded me that the real measure of success is delivering solutions that align with our client’s goals. Refocusing on their perspective, even when it differs from our own instincts, is key to building trust and long-term partnerships."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"I am most proud of being a part of building and leading our Civil Department in the Charlotte office from the ground up. Over the past decade we have been able to grow into one of the largest departments in the firm while managing high-profile residential and industrial projects across the region. It is not just about the revenue or project wins for me, but about seeing a strong, cohesive team develop while also shaping the communities where families live and work for decades to come."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"'Ask a lot of questions.' An executive once shared this with me early in my career, and it completely changed how I approached projects and leadership. Curiosity opens doors—it helps uncover risks, sparks new ideas, and builds stronger connections with teams. It’s been so impactful that I now pass along the same advice to interns and young engineers I mentor."

"Find what you love to do, but also the people you love to do it with. Find the people you love to work with, and even the most challenging projects can become the most enjoyable experiences."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"After growing up in Louisiana and going to college there, moving to Texas post-graduation was a big move. But we quickly made Texas our home and I started investing a lot of my time in the Texas architecture industry by supporting emerging professionals, mentoring local students, leading committees, serving on AIA Boards... and all the people I've met and experiences I've had in Texas have made my career really meaningful thus far."

SECRET LIFE
"My parents recognized my strength in math and science and encouraged me to sign up for Northwestern University’s Career Day for Girls when I was a junior in high school. I spent the day doing hands-on engineering activities and hearing from women in the field. After that day, I was hooked and decided that I wanted to become an engineer."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"Be yourself. While it sounds simple and is probably advice that we’ve all heard before, I’ve found it to hit different at different stages and transitions in my career. From my early days as a young engineer—overthinking the number of exclamation points in my emails—to building practices and assuming new roles with differing styles from my predecessors, I’ve needed to be reminded of this advice over and over. I’ve been fortunate to have truth tellers and cheerleaders express that the industry and Kimley-Horn values ME—not me trying to be someone who came before me."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"I’m extremely proud of the journey my partners and I went on to create a new practice at Kimley-Horn—solar—and grow it to a place of creating so many opportunities for others. Our core purpose at Kimley-Horn is to provide an environment for our people to flourish, and ever since I started my career and felt the benefits of that environment others had created for me, I’ve strived to pay it forward and add to that environment for others. I did an open mic session at a Kimley-Horn training back in 2024, and at the end of the session, two people came up to me to thank me for my role in starting solar at Kimley-Horn. They drew a through line to my efforts then to their career opportunities on the solar team now. It was a powerful moment that I’ll never forget."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"The best career advice I’ve embraced wasn’t something directly told to me—it was something I had to learn and live: take up space. I strive to create environments where others feel empowered to take up their own space, speak up, and grow with confidence."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My proudest professional accomplishment has been becoming a licensed architect and stamping my first set of drawings on a project that marked a major milestone in my career... I was pregnant with my first daughter while preparing for my final exams, and I often joke that it took two brains to pass those last two tests. Earning the title ‘Architect’ was more than a credential—it was a moment of personal triumph."

That idea became her professional mission: to design with a focus on dignity, equity, and health. “Some of my most rewarding experiences have been acting as an ambassador, advocating for these principles in broader contexts like global and public health."

SECRET LIFE
Her father was a commercial pilot. "We spent a good bit of time being ‘stranded’ in airports as we searched the flight information boards for travel options attempting to fly stand-by for family vacations. Unbeknownst to me then, the understanding of airport systems that was grilled into me during childhood would really come in handy as my career focused on aviation and delivering airport environments that work for passengers, crew, and concessions alike."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"'Do it scared.' Intimidation seems to be an underlying constant in the industry–everyone has it, no matter the position or perceived prowess. Don’t let lack of comfort and perceived limited experience stall development; if you’re comfortable, you’re probably not growing. People, situations, and projects may seem scary; do it anyway. We’re all just people wanting to do great things, and everyone has to push through discomfort to get to the next level."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"In September 2020 I was honored to be part of a team that helped activate the new Salt Lake City International Airport, the first new major hub airport built in the U.S. in the 21st century. After decades of planning, six years of construction, and in the midst of the global pandemic, the team rallied in an overnight switch from the legacy airport to the new 1.3 billion-sf state-of-the-art facility. I got to be stationed at the Airport Operations Center, radioing between team members to alert groups of incoming planes and equipment, answering space access questions, and coordinating resources for where they were needed. Talk about a ribbon cutting!"

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"I’ve received a lot of valuable advice over the years, but one that consistently guides me is from Barbara Stanny: 'Feel the fear, have the doubts, do it anyway.' I don’t know her personally, but when I read that line in her book, it struck a chord. Looking back, there have been countless moments where I’ve faced uncertainty—whether stepping into a new challenge or navigating the unknown. That quote has reminded me that fear and doubt aren’t signs to stop. Even when things don’t go as planned, there’s always something to learn."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Being the lead structural engineer for Emory’s Health Sciences Research Building II was a defining moment in my career and a labor of love. At the time, it was the largest and most complex project I’d worked on, and it stretched me in ways I hadn’t expected. I worked with a talented engineering and design team. Collectively, we delivered the largest academic sciences building in Georgia, home to over 1,200 researchers working on life-saving discoveries, including cancer treatment. The project has earned several awards and will always stand out as a personal and professional highlight."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"Learn to harness collaborative intelligence—the ability of a group to think, create, and solve problems more effectively together than any individual could alone. Everyone has strengths, weaknesses, superpowers, blind spots, and unconscious biases—we are all human. To reach the best possible solution, seek out the most talented people you can collaborate with—those who inspire you and bring qualified, diverse perspectives to the table. Invite those who respectfully challenge you to think differently and be better. Be intellectually humble, have the confidence to embrace what you don’t know, and own your mistakes. These perspectives will pressure-test ideas, add durability, and deepen expertise. You will need both advocates and canaries to drive real change."

"The best career advice I’ve received—from several people, actually—is to always be your authentic self. I was reminded of this again during a recent panel I participated in, and it really resonated. Early in my career, I sometimes tried to adapt my style to fit what I thought others wanted, but I learned quickly that the moments I made the biggest impact were when I leaned into being myself. Staying true to who I am has been a guiding principle ever since, and it’s played a big role in getting me to where I am today."

SECRET LIFE
"My grandfather traced our family back to Jamestown, and I’m the 14th generation of my family in the U.S."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"Early in my career, I was coached that our entire business revolves around the relationships we build. While it may surprise some people, construction is a people business at its core. That perspective completely changed the way I approached my work. In construction, the true value we deliver isn’t just a finished project—it’s the strength of the team behind it. And those teams extend far beyond a single jobsite. Every interaction with a client, trade partner, or colleague matters, because this industry is a small world. The people you work with today are often the same people you’ll cross paths with again. That advice has stayed with me and shaped my career. I’ve seen how investing in relationships creates stronger teams, better outcomes, and opportunities that last well beyond any one project."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My biggest professional achievement has been building my career at McCarthy over the past 16 years. I began as an intern and have grown alongside the company, watching both McCarthy and my colleagues reach new milestones. Being promoted to Senior Vice President and Dallas Business Unit Leader has been especially meaningful, as I now oversee projects across healthcare, aviation, education, and hospitality. This achievement stands out not only because of my own growth, but also because of the impact I’ve been able to make on the people and communities we serve."

SECRET LIFE
At 18, he led the construction of his parents' home, planning the layout, coordinating trades, and spending weekends on site doing hands-on work. "It was a crash course in real-world building and the project I’m most personally proud of."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
“'Build the system, not the hero. If success depends on you being in the room, you don’t have a business yet.' It hit me after a long night solving issues that should never have reached the field. I went back and rebuilt how we work: wrote simple SOPs, added QC gates before every release, embedded access/clearance rules, and set a cadence of brief model-to-field reviews with foremen. The next project ran smoother with fewer emergencies and more decisions made by the team without me. That advice matters because it scales craftsmanship. It turns one person’s standards into a repeatable operating system."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Establishing Diasphere’s Texas office in 2023 and growing it into a 30+ BIM/VDC team. Building our U.S. base meant more than opening doors. I set a field-first culture and repeatable systems, so models stay aligned with on-site conditions, from access/clearances to prefab-ready details. Today the team communicates clearly, anticipates issues, and delivers with consistency, pairing business growth with better outcomes for builders."

SECRET LIFE
People are usually surprised to learn that he played a lot of sports growing up—"especially considering how bad I am at most of them."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"Don’t expect your professional life to unfold you imagined it. There will be wins, failures, unexpected setbacks—and sometimes complete resets. You may even switch careers at some point. A great piece of advice that I received was to find a mentor early on, ideally while you’re still in school and preparing to enter the profession. Despite being given this advice, this is something I didn’t do, and I truly wish I had, so I am repeating it here. Having someone outside your immediate circle—someone who shares your values and can offer unfiltered, experience-based advice—makes a huge difference. A good mentor helps you navigate the unique challenges of this field and gives you a voice of perspective and support as you narrate your own journey."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My single biggest professional achievement to date has been leading the design team in delivering the Alula, Poplar House, and Stratos mixed-use multifamily project, developed by Redbrick LMD, in Washington, D.C. What makes this achievement particularly meaningful is that it was a type of project I had not tackled before—complex, large-scale, and involving a multidisciplinary team. Navigating those challenges, stepping into a leadership role, and guiding the team toward a successful outcome was both demanding and deeply rewarding."

A lot of meaningful time and effort goes into obtaining a Professional Engineering license, and I consider it a great achievement to not only complete this for my own professional growth, but to also contribute to others making this achievement is an even great accomplishment."

Likes to hike, backpack, camp, and ski

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"Early in my career when I caught a mistake in one of my calculations and immediately panicked, my boss and mentor calmly told me, 'If it’s not getting built tomorrow, it can be changed today.' Most things in engineering are iterative, and there’s almost always time to improve, correct, and make things better. I carry that perspective with me now, and I try to pass it on when mentoring younger engineers. It’s a powerful mindset shift that encourages continuous improvement rather than fear of getting things wrong."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"I was fortunate to take on a lot of responsibility on a number of rewarding projects early in my career, which helped me rise quickly to a role on the leadership team."

SECRET LIFE
"At 14, police raided my construction site. A local developer accused me of stealing lumber for the 500-sf guesthouse I was building on my parents' property. I came home from school to find officers and a lumber supplier scanning barcodes and inspecting my work. My handwritten budget, stack of Lowe's receipts, and makeshift blueprints cleared me. It was a valuable lesson to document with anticipation."

WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER OR BUSINESS ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
"I've been fortunate to work alongside industry veterans who say a lot through their actions. Their advice is more of a framework of consistently being over-prepared, actively listening, and timely follow-through. I strive to be the client's first phone call from feasibility to closeout and any headwinds in between. And be kind."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"Speaking multiple construction languages fluently. Fifteen years and $12B in ground-up construction have taught me that miscommunication and unmanaged expectations hamstring projects. I pick up the phone early and often, adapting my approach to each stakeholder while keeping them grounded in the broader context. It's strategic storytelling with targeted phrasing and appropriate details."

The second is from Napoleon Hill: 'Action is the real measure of intelligence.'"

In just over 90 days, our team transformed shipping containers into 40 units of transitional housing for people experiencing homelessness in downtown Atlanta. "One of the best pieces of advice I received was from a senior mentor at KPF, who told me: 'Don’t just focus on solving today’s problem—look for solutions that anticipate future challenges as well.' This mindset—thinking beyond the immediate task to create lasting impact—has guided how I approach both design and technology-driven solutions throughout my career."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
"My single biggest professional achievement has been my evolution into a recognized industry leader who bridges the gap between high-level technical execution, mentorship, and industry-wide advocacy—leveraging deep technical expertise from premier projects to educate future architects and advocate for a more innovative, inclusive, and forward-thinking industry. It represents a career dedicated not just to building structures, but to building up the profession itself."
