Carlon electrical non-metallic tubing (ENT) two-piece fittings
by ABB
After working with electricians and installers, the design of traditional fittings has been reimagined into the Carlon electrical non-metallic tubing (ENT) two-piece fittings in effort to make contractors’ jobs easier while delivering labor and time savings. Developed to route and protect wiring for lighting, outlets, data and communication systems, the high-performing polycarbonate two-piece ENT fittings feature an eight-tab snap to reduce insertion force and enhance pull-out strength, making the fittings ideal for poured-in place concrete applications. Available in three sizes, its freely rotating pieces prevent kinks in the ENT, a necessity to ensure long conduit runs in ceilings, slabs, and walls.
Vistacool Azuria and Pacifica glasses
by Vitro Architectural Glass
To bridge the gaps in cancer treatment in central North Carolina, the FirstHealth Cancer Center consolidates services in one centralized four-story building that was designed to both calm and lift spirits, and its exterior delivers the first welcome. Because the façade also needed to deliver controlled daylight and reduced energy use, the architect selected Vistacool Azuria and Pacifica glasses, each with a third-surface Solarban 60 low-E coating, for an expansive glazed curtain wall where the shifting form mirrors the continuous progress of cancer care. Because indirect sunlight enters the space most of the day while direct daylight comes in during late afternoon and early evening hours, Vistacool Azuria glass with Solarban 60 shields 74% of the solar heat gain while allowing 42% visible light and Vistacool Pacifica with Solarban 60 glass shields 78% of the solar heat gain while allowing 26% visible light.
Aspire Bullnose Paver with Legs
by Aspire Pavers
Created to integrate seamlessly with the company’s Aspire paver line, the Bullnose Paver with Legs aims to simplify installation and enhance any project’s final appearance. The added legs add security while the bullnose corner eliminates the need for miter cutting bullnose pavers to create a corner. Using up to 95% recycled material, the Aspire Paver System (formerly AZEK Pavers) meets LEED and Envision requirements for Green Building projects, weighs up to a third less than traditional pavers, and delivers fade and stain resistance.
SolaMaster 750 DS-O daylighting systems
by Solatube
The building of the New London Educational Learning Center represented an investment in the local community while providing a safe, modern and functional environment tailored to the needs of its students with learning and behavioral challenges—and the use of Solatube solved one of the project’s key challenges. Because it was a goal to introduce daylight to areas where traditional windows or skylights were not viable, especially the cafeteria and recreation area, the project architect and construction team sought a solution that met both architectural and the safety requirements of Minnesota’s E-occupancy standards and ICC 500 codes for storm shelters. The team found it in 12 SolaMaster 750 DS-O daylighting systems that comply with both ICC 500 and FEMA P-361 standards while still meeting the project’s daylighting objectives.

StoVentec Glass Rainscreen System
by Sto Corp
When a bank sought to consolidate its operations into a state-of-the-art headquarters in downtown Fargo, North Dakota, it opted to use the previously vacant building’s structure for the foundation to respect the city’s history, thus making one of the project challenges how to retrofit an existing concrete structure with a new, thermally-efficient modern façade. The architect’s attendance at a North Dakota American Institute of Architects conference provided the solution: StoVentec Glass Rainscreen System. Because the system is a back ventilated rainscreen system consisting of durable, opaque glass-faced panels, thermal insulation, sub-construction, and a continuous air- and water-resistive barrier, it solved for the fact the original building had virtually no insulation on the original 12-story structure, and mineral wool insulation was layered in during installation. The now contemporary building features gray and white polished and matte glass panels for an appearance that seamlessly blends the old with the new.
