The Columbia Heights Headquarters and Community Center opened its doors in March to the revitalized neighborhood in northwest Washington, D.C. The 50,000-sf facility offers a full-service gymnasium, dance studio, computer lab, weight training room, and multipurpose rooms. Designed by the Washington, D.C., office of Omaha, Neb.-based Leo A Daly, the center is expected to earn a LEED Silver rating. Sustainable features include a cool roof with green roof plantings that reduce stormwater runoff and a location close to public transportation.
