Smart thinking

When Lubrizol Corp. of Wickliffe, Ohio, wanted to upgrade its alarm system while maintaining its emergency paging system, it selected a system that integrates fire-alarm panels, Windows-based network reporting terminals and LCD displays. At an on-site central alarm station, a network reporting terminal pinpoints the exact location and type of any alarm. A plant alarm annunciator gives the central alarm-station personnel the ability to page any building, subset of zones within a building or group of buildings. Lubrizol uses AM2020 analog intelligent voice-alarm systems, which can display the detector location, type, status and the value of smoke measurement for each device every few seconds.

A site-wide voice evacuation and paging system can mimic the sound of the previous amplification system.
