Hotel tax increase for renovation of Miami Dolphins stadium hinges on Super Bowl site selection
The Miami Dolphins have asked Miami-Dade County voters to approve a hotel tax increase to help fund roughly half of the planned $400+ million renovations to Sun Life Stadium. The planned referendum is making its way through the Florida Legislature, which must approve the plan before goes to Miami-Dade County voters. The funding plan is contingent upon Miami being chosen by the NFL as a site for a future Super Bowl. If the city is not chosen, the county will be allowed to back out of the deal. The plan also includes a request for a sales tax exemption for Sun Life Stadium.
