Regulators approved a major renovation of Homewood Mountain Resort on Lake Tahoe’s west shore, despite concerns over its impact on traffic and air pollution. JMA Ventures says the $250 million plan is the most environmentally friendly project ever at Lake Tahoe, which likely helped the plan get the OK from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

Renewable energy would help power the complex, shuttle service would be expanded, and water taxis and free bicycles would be provided. The plan is to bulldoze the current facilities and turn the 1,253-acre property into a destination resort with a four-story hotel, ski-in condominiums, two lodges, and retail space.
