Ferry terminal gets a fabric roof

Aug. 11, 2010

The newly constructed Battery Park City ferry terminal in Lower Manhattan features a tensioned membrane canopy constructed and installed by Birdair. With 8,000 passengers traveling through the terminal daily, the permanent floating structure required a roofing material that was both durable and visually appealing. About 24,440 sf of Birdair's PTFE Sheerfill Architectural Membrane was used in the sweeping design to suggest canvas sails.
