St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, Calif., and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Ashburn, Va., are among 12 winning projects in Sika Sarnafil's 2007 Projects of the Year Competition.

Garnering first place in the low-slope category, the St. John's Regional Medical Center project (above) involved re-roofing the facility's 170,000-sf roof with Sika Sarnafil's highly reflective, energy-efficient EnergySmart Roof membrane. DRI Commercial of Irvine, Calif., completed the work without disrupting hospital operations.

At the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (below), Sterling, Va.-based Prospect Waterproofing Co. installed more than 225,000 sf of waterproofing membrane as a base for a series of green roofs designed to hold vegetation and plant coverings. The project took first place in the waterproofing category.
