The new Denver headquarters for Shinesty, a party clothing company, was designed to match the brand’s fun image with an iconic array of colors, textures, and prints curated by the design agency, Maximalist. Shinesty’s mission, to challenge the world to live more freely and “take itself less seriously,” is embodied throughout the office interior.
Bold, monochromatic colors combine with copious amounts of textures and prints to showcase the company’s eclectic and over-the-top personality. Space vignettes include a sunglass portal, cabanas, communal workspaces, phone booths, photo studios, hot tropic conference room, conversation pits, and boardroom decked out with a bar. The space features high-end lighting to create a residential feel, and bold carpet color choices transport you to a new scene and vibe.
Each room has distinct personality and flare. The “Pink Panther Room,” a small room for private phone calls (or naps), is fitted with a pink Tom Dixon light fixture, a pink side table next to a pink armchair—all surrounded by fuzzy pink walls. Across the hall, a conference room, coined the “Music Studio,” is resplendent in full monochromatic purple. Lilac swivel chairs surrounding a purple table are set in front of purple foam to aid acoustic quality. Encouraging a playful, fun, and energetic atmosphere, the two wild rooms play off of each other.
Other standout spaces include a green conversation pit lounge, a banana-themed yellow kitchen, and a striking red conference room. The Boardroom is one of the larger rooms, featuring a plethora of open-seating and a full bar. Shinesty executives wanted the staff to feel comfortable coming back to the office after hours and to be able to host parties in the space. The paint color, called “Royal Liqueur” by Behr, is on point for this imbibing setting.
The 5,217-sf space was completed at a reasonable total cost of $200,000-$250,000 with a construction budget of about $110,600.
X-Colo Design Build was the GC on the project.
