Suffolk Construction-Marcobay Construction form partnership to target Southeast projects

June 15, 2009 |

Two construction leaders, Suffolk Construction and Marcobay Construction, have joined forces to win multiple high profile projects in the Southeast.

The alliance has resulted in the recent award of a $13 million contract by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) for a 200-bed Bachelor Enlisted Quarters at the Marine Corp Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia. The 63,000-plus square foot structure, consisting of storage, utilities, parking and anti-terrorism force protection, will be built to become certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) facility.

“When seeking a strategic partner, Marcobay Construction’s core values were very similar to ours—passion, integrity, hard work and professionalism. They also share the goal of providing high quality and on-time work,” stated Rex Kirby, president and general manager of Suffolk Construction’s Southeast Region.

“Our overall company strategy, like Suffolk Construction’s, involves training and developing our people, earning customer loyalty, and diversifying our work,” remarked Howard Bayless, president of Marcobay Construction. “One of our biggest competitive advantages is self-performing all our own concrete and masonry work, which allows us to control quality, schedules and pricing.”

Construction on the Bachelor Enlisted Quarters will begin in September and will be completed in 2011.
