Sto Corp.'s high-performance, energy-efficient wall cladding, StoTherm Lotusan NExT, integrates sustainability and durability for EIFS Walls

August 11, 2010

ATLANTA – (May 5, 2009) Sto Corp., the world leader in cladding, coating, and restoration systems, has expanded its wall cladding solutions with a system that combines StoGuard™ waterproof air barrier + StoTherm insulated wall cladding + Stolit Lotusan textured finish.

StoTherm Lotusan NExT integrates three proven components – a continuous waterproof air barrier, exterior insulation and a textured finish with self-cleaning properties – into a superior, sustainable wall cladding unlike any other. This high-performing, eye-catching wall cladding system saves energy and stays attractive for years.

“StoTherm Lotusan NExT improves indoor comfort and air quality while maintaining maximum curb appeal and lowering overall life cycle costs,” said Mike O’Neil, Sto’s senior product manager. “It delivers energy efficiency and durability required for building sustainable construction projects.”
What are the three components all about?

StoGuard is a seamless spray-on building wrap that unites energy efficiency and durability, creating a continuous waterproof air barrier beneath exterior wall claddings. It offers:
• Superior protection against moisture intrusion and air leakage • Continuous coverage without nail or staple holes preventing moisture infiltration • Improved indoor air quality • Protection against mold and mildew • Easy and safe to install

StoTherm insulated wall claddings provide buildings with a blanket of continuous insulation that protects the exterior from temperature fluctuations and keeps interiors more comfortable. To date, more than 860 million square feet of StoTherm have been installed worldwide, demonstrating the system‘s long-lasting performance. In addition, StoTherm is newly improved with lighter-weight Sto BTS® Xtra basecoat/adhesive, with 17% recycled content.  StoTherm offers:
• Reduced air infiltration and heat loss for increased interior comfort • Significant energy savings in both hot and cold climates • Durability and low maintenance • Design freedom and versatility • Lower structural steel requirements due to lighter weight

Stolit® Lotusan®
Featuring the Lotus-Effect®, a patented breakthrough technology modeled on the unique self cleaning lotus leaf, Stolit Lotusan textured finish is incomparable to any exterior product on the market. Like the lotus leaf, the textured finish is rinsed clean with rainfall, thereby reducing maintenance costs. Stolit Lotusan offers:
• Super hydrophobic, unprecedented water repellence • Long-lasting curb appeal and reduced maintenance costs • Pronounced self-cleaning properties • High resistance to mold, mildew and algae • Available in a variety of textures and colors
