Access to the apse with the V-1504 enclosure
Positioned along the ambulatory of Our Lady of Immaculate Cathedral, the Savaria V-1504 Enclosure vertical platform lift (VPL) blends seamlessly into the historic interior. The full-height door and gate with glass inserts preserve clear sightlines to the apse, enabling clergy to move efficiently without disrupting the visual or spiritual experience. The lift’s standard almond beige finish complements the cathedral’s warm tones, creating a subtle, unobtrusive presence. Its compact footprint and smooth operation deliver a refined mobility solution, demonstrating how modern functionality can coexist with architectural heritage.
V-1504 hoistway application: connecting every level
To improve accessibility, Westminster Presbyterian Church retrofitted a Savaria V-1504 VPL within a hoistway to provide dependable access to all levels, including the central gathering space. From the active daycare below to offices above, the enclosed cab offers a safe, practical, and reliable solution that aligns with the building’s welcoming atmosphere. The Antique White melamine cab finish is durable, low-maintenance, and designed for long-term performance.
Church entrance upgraded with the V-1504
At the entrance of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, the V-1504 Enclosure Vertical Platform Lift delivers smooth, dignified access directly from the parking area. Its dark brown finish and glass enclosure complement the brick façade and architectural accents, creating a cohesive and inviting appearance. Straight-through access simplifies navigation for wheelchair users. The V-1504 shows how accessibility can be incorporated seamlessly without detracting from traditional design.
Orion MRL Elevator connecting a community
A former grocery store converted into a church now provides reliable accessibility with the Orion MRL accessibility elevator. At Sacred Heart Church, the limited use/limited application (LU/LA) elevator enables safe, convenient movement between offices and the community hall, supporting an inclusive environment. The Architectural White steel cab, paired with stainless steel operating panel (COP), hall stations, and handrail, complements the updated interior while delivering a clean, contemporary solution. By eliminating the need for a separate machine room, the Orion MRL optimizes usable space—ideal for renovations and compact footprints.
Stepping up to the sanctuary with the V-1504
While Trinity United Church offers wheelchair access at street level, reaching the sanctuary required navigating a hallway and stairs. To address this, a V-1504 VPL was installed within a hoistway, providing safe, convenient travel over a 48-inch rise. The beige platform, combined with a fire-rated full-height lower landing door and an upper landing gate with clear acrylic insert, offers a practical and discreet solution. The V-1504 ensures comfortable access to the sanctuary, supporting an inclusive worship experience.
Accessibility is more than a requirement—it’s a design opportunity.
With Savaria’s broad range of lifts and elevators, architects can create seamless vertical connections, enhance the user experience, and integrate mobility solutions that respect both form and function.
