The Finksburg Branch Library in Carroll County, Md., is the community's first green building. Designed by the Lukmire Partnership, the 15,000-sf building has a geothermal heating system, a solar-powered hot water system, and is positioned on its rural, 10-acre site to capture natural light throughout the day. The facility houses a 35,000-volume library, meeting rooms, a café, a computer center, and a main reading room.
