The recent fatality of a man working on a tornado-damaged house in West Springfield, Mass. has highlights the need to take safety measures to prevent falls, according to an official with the Western Mass. Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health.
“The biggest problem is getting our workers to use the equipment,” says Michael J. Florio, executive director of the organization. “It is a case of ‘I’m only going to go up on that roof to nail something down for a second.’ How long does it take to fall?”
