Regulators charge pervasive abuse of construction workers in Connecticut

Federal and state regulators say they have uncovered what they call "widespread noncompliance" with minimum wage and overtime laws in Connecticut's construction industry. One of the major ways construction contractors are circumventing the law, the U.S. Department of Labor says, is by using subcontractors who misclassify workers as independent contractors and who pay by the piece rather than by the hour.
