The historic 12-story Ritz Carlton hotel In Montreal’s city center is undergoing a $150 million dollar renovation and expansion. The 79,000-sf glass curtain wall system, designed, engineered, and installed by Gamma, uses the manufacturer’s own architectural aluminum and unitized curtain walls, aluminum wall paneling, and entrances. Gamma worked with the project architects, local firm Provencher Roy + Associés Architectes, to enhance the acoustical requirements that minimize sound transmission and optimize the acoustic performance of the curtain wall. The contrast between the modern curtain wall and the original 1909 architecture makes it one of the city’s distinctive properties.
