Seattle-based Callison has been selected as master planner for the conceptual phase of a massive waterfront development in Aqaba, Jordan. Upon completion, the $10 billion Marsa Zayed project, developed by Al Maabar Jordan Investments, will be the largest property development in the history of Jordan.

Plans for the 60 million-sf mixed-use project include high-rise residential towers, business and financial districts, retail and entertainment facilities, several branded hotels and resorts, multiple marinas, and a cruise ship terminal.

Aqaba is in close proximity to the ancient city of Petra, recently designated as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Tourism is expected to play an important role in fueling Jordan's economic growth.
