The Local 17 International Assn. of Heat and Frost Insulators is set to move into a new 30,000-sf headquarters located in Tinley Park, Ill. Englewood Construction and BVM Associates head the Building Team, designing the facility to house union offices, a member union hall, a health and welfare department, and training classrooms. Workers have reused much of the existing building, saving considerably on construction costs.
Currently located in Chicago, the union has more than 1,200 active members and trains an average of 80 apprentice insulators a year. The new headquarters will allow the union to host more disciplines under one roof.
