Members of the newly formed Council of NAIMA, an industry group representing building insulation manufacturers, met with President Obama in Savannah, Ga., recently to support the proposed “Homestar” program.
The draft legislation for Homestar would establish a $6 billion rebate program to provide up to $3,000 in immediate rebates to homeowners who improve the energy efficiency of their houses. A similar program, “BuildingStar,” would provide rebates to owners of existing commercial buildings.
Council members include Bayer MaterialScience, Borax, CertainTeed, Dow, Fiberlite Technologies, GreenFiber, Icynene, Johns Manville, Knauf, Nu-Wool, Pactiv, Roxul, Thermafiber, and Zero-Loft, as well as two suppliers, Huntsman and Rio Tinto.
