More than $85 million has been awarded for Hurricane Katrina recovery projects in Hancock County, MS. The funds are composed of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), which are administered through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA). These awards represent the county and municipalities' top submitted priorities, including $37 million to construct a new jail and justice court, as well as construction of a new Emergency Operations Center.
