BD+C Editorial board tours new Yankee Stadium site

Aug. 11, 2010

Joseph Byrne, project executive with Turner Construction , shows where construction worker Gino Castignoli, a Red Sox fan from the Bronx, buried a Yankees jersey in concrete being poured for the New Yankee Stadium, in an attempt to jinx the Bronx Bombers. Other construction crew members tipped the Yanks to the jersey's location; it was unearthed, donated to the Red Sox, and raised $175,100 for the Sox's Jimmy Fund cancer charity. The hole will be glassed in for viewing by fans starting next season, when the new House That Ruth Built opens. BD+C Editorial Board members toured the stadium as part of the magazine's annual Editorial Board meeting.
