Mead & Hunt recently received a 2008 Airport Safety Award from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Great Lakes Region for its work on the La Crosse, WI, Municipal Airport.
On the project, Mead & Hunt designed a runway reconfiguration that meets new FAA requirements and enhances airport safety by reducing the possibility of incorrect runway departures.
Mead & Hunt also received a 2008 Outstanding Achievement Award for Environmental Documentation from the FAA for work on runway safety area improvements at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, WI.
Mead & Hunt's improvement alternatives considered the Airport's location, feasibility, and safety related to runway intersections.
The company's successful efforts to involve the public included collecting input from community, state, and federal stakeholders. Mead & Hunt's comprehensive environmental document satisfied FAA requirements for the proposed improvements, which are planned to be complete by 2013.
