RICHMOND, Va., May 28, 2009 – Continuing their successful relationship with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Baskervill is proud to announce the opening of the Four Points by Sheraton Punta Gorda Harborside Resort.  This property, which opened on May 22, 2009, is the flagship of the Four Points new Getaway Lifestyle design package.

Owned by a partnership led by Interdevco & Christopher Companies, LLC (I & C Development), the newly constructed, 106-room resort is ideally located on the Charlotte Harbor waterfront in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Matthew Marsili, project design lead for Baskervill, along with the Four Points Design Team, worked with the concept that good design doesn’t have to be overly complicated -- comfort and simplicity go hand in hand.  Baskervill’s scope was inclusive of all interior spaces, including guestrooms, great room, fitness center, meeting rooms, terrace, and library, which is an interactive social space incorporating high-tech gaming systems with classic game tables.

Baskervill’s design inspires the nautical senses.  Creating a simple, relaxing environment, soothing the mind, body, and spirit, the interiors are reminiscent of Punta Gorda’s waterside environment.  Muted millwork in shades of sun-bleached natural wood and soft hues of blue are highlighted by pops of bold blue, green and orange colors, as well as polished nickel accents throughout, continuing the motif.  The outdoor lounge gives guests the feeling of a leisurely stroll on the boardwalk, blending in with the natural surroundings.

“The new Four Points by Sheraton feels like you’ve been invited into a friend’s home -- you feel like you can throw your feet up on the coffee table,” remarked Marsili.  “The intent of Punta Gorda Harborside is to make you feel at home.”

Despite the property’s grand opening, Baskervill’s work continues with the implementation of the local Artist in Residence program at the Punta Gorda Harborside.  Working in conjunction with the local arts center, Marsili is creating the artwork display prototype for the resort that will feature artwork from local artists over a three month rotating period.  In addition to building relationships with the local cultural community, this initiative will honor the positive relationship between the town and the resort.

The success of this project is a direct result of the collaboration of the project team, including Starwood Hotels and Resorts (brand), I & C Development (owner), Baskervill (designer), Mathews Construction (contractor), and Roger & Fry Architects & Associates (architect of record).
