Consolidated Contracting Services, Inc., a Southern California commercial construction firm, recently finished constructing the San Ysidro Health Center's (SYHC) new state-of-the-art 38,968-square-foot Maternal & Child Health Center, located at 4005 Beyer Blvd. in San Ysidro, Calif.

Consolidated Contracting is serving as general contractor for the $14-million project. The scope of work entails construction of a three-story building and two-level parking lot, a dentist office, and various exam rooms and offices. The facility will feature entrance canopies, trellises, balconies, decorative steel and tile, and retaining walls.

Located on a hillside, the project also involves the creation of caisson retaining walls, street improvements and traffic signals. Angel Trespando served as project manager for Consolidated Contracting, with Garet McInroe as project engineer and Steve Viscioni as construction superintendent. Rodriguez Park Architecture and Planning was the project architect, with Kawasaki Theilacker Ueno & Assoc. serving as landscape architect; Degenkolb Engineers as structural engineer; BDS Engineers, Inc. as civil engineer; MacDonald Engineers, Inc. as electrical engineer; and Walsh Engineers as mechanical engineer. San Ysidro Health Center is overseeing the project, which is partially being funded by the First 5 Commission of San Diego County.

San Ysidro Health Center is the major provider of "safety net" health care services for low-income residents living in the South Region of San Diego County, with clinics in National City, Chula Vista, Otay, and San Ysidro.

SYHC serves over 52,000 registered patients annually and provides a continuum of primary care services including medical and dental care.
