Perkins+Will, a leading sustainable design firm specializing in architecture, interiors, branded environments, and planning + strategies in a variety of markets, announced that it has acquired Minneapolis-based Rozeboom Miller Architects (RMA), a regional architecture and design firm recognized most notably for its innovative design of K–12 facilities.
“Perkins+Will is known nationally for its presence in the K–12 area of practice, but we were lacking that expertise and depth here in our Minneapolis office. An acquisition was the quickest and most efficient way for us to develop a credible K–12 practice that would allow us to compete on a national level in that market,” said Chuck Knight, managing principal with Perkins+Will. “With a reputation for being an undisputed leader in K–12 design work here in Minneapolis and throughout the Upper Midwest, RMA was the perfect firm for us to turn to.”
“RMA has a solid foundation and a national reputation in the area of K–12 design, and we’re excited to integrate our practice with Perkins+Will and help the firm excel in that area,” said Ted Rozeboom, principal with RMA. “I feel strongly that the combination of Perkins+Will’s expertise in higher education design and RMA’s expertise in K–12 design will result in new creative thinking that will truly benefit education as a whole.”
Specifically, Rozeboom expects the acquisition to help position Perkins+Will as an innovator and leader in the area of 11–14 education, a growing market within the education sector.
Steve Miller, also a principal with RMA, agreed. “As two firms, Perkins+Will and RMA each had tremendous impact on the design of educational facilities as well on the design of healthcare, corporate and civic facilities,” he said. “But there is no doubt that by working together as one team we can impact these markets in ways we never dreamed possible.”
